BRIEF BACKGROUND OF THE PG SCHOOL
PREAMBLE
The PGD programmes were established in order to provide a bridge, in the first instance, between HND graduates and the pursuit of a further degree and in the second instance between with third class and below degree with masters. The school started as a unit in 2000 offering PGDBA, PGDA and PGDPA. In 2006 it was converted to a full pledged school as part of affiliation requirements. At present it is offering postgraduate diplomas in management (PGDM), accountant and finance (PGDAF), public administration (PGDPAP), information technology (PGDIT), statistics (PGDSTA) and biological sciences (PGDBS). All these programmes are affiliated to Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
MODE OF OPERATION
Although candidates purchase forms from Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata Mafara, admission is completely done at the PG school of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto. Lectures and examinations are done at the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata Mafara under the careful supervision of officials of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
PROSPECTS
To date more than 2000 students have graduated with various PGDs, and God willing by the end of 2020 all certificates will be ready for collection. The credit for this feat goes to the current Rector of Abdu Gusau Polytechnic Talata-Mafara, Dr. Sha’ayau Shehu. The school is currently at its temporary site and will insha Allah move to its new building (currently under consideration). Thank you and God bless you.
